What to See at Sea World Resort

What to See at Sea World Resort

The Gold Coast has won numerous family travel awards over the years and continues to rank as one of the top holiday destinations not only in Australia, but in the world. But with all of the must-do activities, it can be a little overwhelming and hard to decide what to see and what to skip. You will inevitably be faced with the question of where should we stay and what should we do. So here is our guide to Sea World Resort and Sea World to help you cater your trip to your family’s specific interests.

For Animal Lovers

The Gold Coast is famous for the adorable animals that call Sea World home and if your kids love animals (and what kid doesn’t?) then Sea World is an obvious choice for a family holiday. This is the ultimate playground for animal encounters with the Dolphin Cove, Seal Harbour, Penguin Point, Polar Bear Shores and Ray Reef.  Recently added is the Polar Bear Preschool featuring adorable polar cub Henry.

Make sure you also schedule time to see Fish Detectives, a hilarious show featuring two cheeky sea lions and Imagine, a visually stunning look at the agility and grace of the dolphins that live at Sea World. As a freebie when staying at the resort, guests can also view the exclusive Dolphin Discovery show which offers an exclusive behind the scenes look at dolphin life at the park.

For Water Lovers

When visiting the Gold Coast, especially during the summer, most families will want to cool off by being as close to water as possible. However, rather than pay the extra costs to get into Wet’n’Wild or WhiteWater World, you may find that the Sea World Water Park is just as good and FREE for guests staying at Sea World Resort! The Water Park features a huge water slide, a shallow kid’s pool with mini slides and stylish poolside cabanas. This is a great way to spend time as a family without the hectic pace of the theme parks.

For Thrill Seekers

For heart stopping stomach turning rides, most people assume that the place to be is Movie World or Dream World. And while both of these parks feature a vast array of extreme rides, Sea World is also home to some of the top thrills on the Coast. The inverted coaster the Sea Viper and the high speed Jet Rescue will leave your older kids fuelled on adrenaline while the rides at Castaway Bay and Beach Break Bay are perfect for little ones. There are also classic family favourites including the Viking Flume and the Storm Coaster, coming soon.

For Mum and Dad

Family vacations are often all about the kids but it shouldn’t be this way. You shouldn’t come home from a holiday feeling more exhausted, stressed and disconnected than when you left. So take advantage of the Sea World Resort Kids Club for at least one evening. With specialty designed SpongeBob SquarePants and Dora the Explorer activities, a kids movie theatre, X Box 360 games, art and crafts and team sports, your kids will love this break away and hopefully you can enjoy some alone time.

If you want to enjoy a night of world class cuisine without straying too far away from the kids (you know, just in case), then we highly recommend Hatshana Japanese Restaurant, located within the resort. You can choose from an array of popular a la carte dishes, sushi and a delectable selection of Japanese fusion hotpots and tantalising western and Japanese desserts. The Shoreline Restaurant is another great choice for more casual and contemporary dining.

For the Whole Family

The perfect end to a memorable family holiday happens at Sea World Resort with the incredible LED light show at the SpongeBob Splash Bash. The Nickelodeon SpongeBob Splash Bash starts at 8:00 each night and transforms the splash zone into a special effects show down with synchronised water jets, colourful LED lights and an amazing theatrical show with all your kid’s favourite Nickelodeon characters. There is even a chance to meet the characters during your stay at the resort. This is the perfect bedtime performance before the kids are whisked to bed and the adults can enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the resort. Sounds pretty perfect to me.
