Do You Go Naked Around Your Children? This Mum Does And Says It’s Worth It

A mother has revealed that she and her husband are ‘more than happy’ to go naked in front of their children.

Mummy blogger Celine Bell, 37, from east London, see nothing wrong with stripping off when at home with her sons, three-year-old Arthur and 18-month-old George.

She explained that her boys have a positive mind towards body confidence they ‘revel in being naked’, and are ‘proud of what their bodies can achieve’.

Although, Celine admitted that sooner or later, she and her husband Pete, 39, will be ‘mindful’ of their children, and will cover up.

Writing on her blog Bell From Bow, she said:

“[W]hen we are not out of the house, we are as laissez faire as we’ve always been, and that includes being naked in front of the kids. It’s not a permanent state, because I’m too tight with the heating for that, and it’s not gratuitous, but it’s more than acceptable.”

While she and her husband enjoy being naked around their children, Celine said that her children are confident with their bodies.

“[T]hey have such confidence. They revel in being naked. And they are proud of what their bodies can achieve, ‘Look mummy, look at me!’. We could do well to learn from them,” she wrote.

Celine explained that being naked around her sons gives her the opportunity to teach them about body confidence.

“It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to show them what a real body looks like, before Hollywood takes over. To answer questions about my c section scar, or old running injuries. To show them that girls and boys, and men and women, have different bodies,” she wrote.

However, Celne said that that there will come a time when she and Pete will have to learn to be conscious about being relaxed around their children.

“[A]t what point will I have to be conscious of my children, who will one day be young men, and cover up accordingly? There is a difference between being relaxed and exhibitionism, and we all went to school with the kid whose parents were in-your-face naked, too relaxed to make anyone comfortable. When do we need to be mindful of embarrassing them?” she wrote.

Celine ended her post by saying that respect is important in teaching kids about body confidence.

“As long as they are comfortable with their parents being naked at home occasionally, then we will continue to be relaxed about it. As soon as they become modest around us, we’ll do the same. We’ll knock before entering their room. We’ll have mutual respect (I hope) between us and these tiny humans. They get to set the agenda. And we’ll save a ton on our heating bills,” she wrote.
