Now while many will say that the best way to cure a hangover is to not drink at all, we know this is not always reasonable or possible.
While we are certainly not encouraging the excessive consumption of alcohol (it is always best to drink in moderation – and definitely don’t drink and drive!), we thought it would be a good community service to suggest a few ways that you can alleviate that post party hangover, just in case you go a bit overboard.
Some of these may work, some of them won’t, but when you are feeling like something resembling roadkill after your big night, you’ll be prepared to try just about anything!
We at SAHM would be very silly if we assumed that all our wonderful fans were tea-totallers and wouldn’t touch a drop of the evil liquor. So we’ll share with you some of the best hangover cures!
Before The Fact:
It is a well-known fact that being well hydrated can slow down the effects of excessive alcohol consumption on the body. Something that often works for me is drinking lots of water during the day before you go out and have a glass of water between each alcoholic drink. Then drink a big glass of water before you go to bed. Yes, you may be peeing like a racehorse all night, but you’ll feel better for it!
2. Line Your Stomach
It’s a good practice to eat something while and after you consume alcohol. This helps reduce the rate at which alcohol enters your blood which can help reduce the after-effects. Apparently, food can help to absorb the alcohol too and helps the body to digest it quicker.
3. Vitamin C
Take Vitamin C tablets. These help break down the alcohol content in your body. But don’t take too many or you’ll just pee all the goodness out. Just a 1000mg should do the trick before you go out, then another 1000 mg in the morning when you get up.
4. Starchy Foods
Try to eat starchy foods to slow down the alcohol absorption.
