Admit it or not, we all do play the same music in one way or another.

Farting is everybody’s not-so favourite musical piece. I think we all consider ourselves a prodigy in passing the gas. But despite having to deal with them everyday, we don’t really know much about farting. We’d like to remedy that by providing you with all the facts you’ve ever wanted to know about farts, as well as some you probably didn’t want to know!

1. The Basics

Almost all living organisms on the planet are capable of blowing one out the back. Flatulence is made up or a mixture of hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, suffer dioxide and sometimes methane. Farts happen when gas is produced after food breakdown.

2. What Is That Smell?

This might surprise you, but the most noxious smelling farts that the strange man on the bus seems to produce when you’re seated next to him only contain 1% of odorous gases. The main reason behind it is hydrogen sulphide, which is responsible for that delicate rotten egg smell we’re so familiar with.

3. A Game of Averages

Here’s one of the ridiculous facts about farts you didn’t know. The average person farts 14 times every day, which is about 700ml of flatulence, or roughly enough to blow up a balloon (we’d love to see you try). And yes ladies, we fart just as much as men. If you don’t think you do, it’s probably because most of the farting happens at night.
