6. Get Your Eyes Checked

This isn’t really a home remedy as such, but many headaches can be a result of eye strain and poor eyesight, so pop in to see an optometrist!

7. Head Massage

Ask your partner if they can massage your scalp, forehead and neck. This can be relaxing and can get rid of most tension headaches.

9. Ginger

Eating crystallised ginger or adding some grated ginger in your drink is an effective home remedy for your headache. Using fresh or powdered ginger when cooking your food will do just as well.

Apples are valuable in curing all types of headaches. Remove the core and skin of a ripe apple and grate it (adding a small pinch of salt) then eat it (preferable on an empty stomach).

Please note that headaches can indicate a serious illness or disease, so if your headache is coupled with other symptoms such as flu, fever, photosensitivity (unable to tolerate light), suspicious rash, body aches and pains, nausea or vomiting and severe fatigue, you MUST seek immediate medical attention.

If your headache worsens despite home remedies and pain killers, also seek medical attention or follow this link to our post on health hotlines and suggested websites for further information and advice*.
