15 Ways to Earn Money Ranked According to Your Free Time

Are you living from paycheck to paycheck?

Are you not able to set aside money for savings despite buying only what you need? Is there always too much month at the end of the money? Then perhaps, aside from religiously following our tips to save money, it’s time to increase and augment your income. Ladies and gents, let me show you ways to earn money ranked according to your free time! Let’s start with…

A Lot of Free Time

1. Part-time jobs

This is a no-brainer. If you have extra time at hand and if you think you’re healthy enough to take on a second job, then do it! Instead of spending 3-4 hours a day idling away while watching Netflix, do something more productive and earn precious cash.Examples: Babysitting, dog-sitting or dog-walking, freelance writing, online customer service jobs

2. Make a blog or a YouTube channel

If you’re a good, charismatic writer, you can start a blog. On the other hand, if you’re a good speaker and think you look good on camera, begin a YouTube channel. You can earn from ads and sponsors through these options.

3. Sell your work

You most probably have a skill that other people are dying to have. If you are good at cooking or baking, sell your dishes. If you are good at crafting, sell your work on Etsy. You can even make printables and sell them.

4. Be an extra or a mystery shopper

You can take on side jobs that don’t take much of your time such as being an extra in a video (e.g. a music video). You can also apply to different companies to become a mystery shopper. Bonus: these jobs tend to be fun, too!

5. Organise a yard sale

And speaking of fun, if you can allot maybe 3-4 days of your time to organise a yard sale, that would be great! You can coordinate with your friends to make the yard sale bigger and attract more potential customers.

Some Free Time

1. Claim your tax refunds

On second thought, everybody should claim their tax refunds! But seriously, a lot of people don’t know how much they should be getting back from their taxes. Know the amount of your tax refund through this comprehensive tax calculator.

2. Sell your used books and notes

Already done with school? If you have no one to give your used books and notes to, there are a lot of online platforms you can utilise to sell them.Examples: bookon.com.au for used books and studentvip.com.au for used notes

3. Sell your used clothes and, actually, everything you no longer use

I know you have probably heard of this piece of advice a million times already, so if you’re still not doing it, why? You’re never going to use those old clothes and trinkets anyway, so clean up your clutter and earn money.

4. Enter contests

Every now and then, you’ll surely come across contests and promos on Facebook or on blogs that you follow. Most of the time, these will be sponsored giveaways (no harm in joining them), but sometimes, they’ll also be giving away money or gift coupons!

5. Sell the gift cards that you don’t plan to use

And speaking of gift cards, I’m quite certain almost all of us have gift cards which we — admit it — are not planning on using anytime soon. Rather than saving them for an uncertain occasion, sell them for certain money.

A Little Bit of Free Time

1. Answer online surveys and take part in online paid schemes

There are a lot of websites that pay you if you answer surveys, browse websites, check advertisements — there’s almost everything for everyone. Most of the time, you can spend just 15 minutes doing these things.

Examples: Clixsense, Swagbucks, Qmee

2. Be an affiliate marketer

Affiliate marketing is very popular among bloggers and those who maintain websites, but even if you do not have your own website, you can easily market affiliate products using your social media accounts.

Examples: Amazon, eBay, LinkShare

3. Trade your used electronics for cash

With the “life span” of most of the electronics we use nowadays, I bet you have a stash of non-functioning electronics in your home. Rather than let them gather dust, trade them for cash using several outlets.

Examples: Gazelle, Usell, BuyMyTronics

4. Use cash-back and rebate options when shopping

This tip doesn’t require you to do anything — at all! All you need to do is shop like you always do. But of course, you need to ask your favourite stores and supermarkets for cash-back and rebate options and apply to the program.

5. Use apps that help you earn money

Yes, there are apps that help you earn money! There are some apps that help you receive cash-backs and rebates from their affiliate stores, while there are also apps that earn you money just by doing simple tasks like sliding the lock-screen!

Examples: Ibotta (iOS, Android), Receipt Hog (iOS, Android), Slidejoy (Android)
