Grandad Fined $600 For Driving With Babies In Car Boot

A $600 fine and eight demerit points is all punishment a grandfather received after being pulled over by Police.

The incident occurred in Perenjori, approximately 350km north east of Perth, when police pulled the car over at 11pm on Friday night.

Four adults were travelling in the car, while two baby girls that were both under 18 months of age, were found wrapped in blankets in the boot.

Sgt Gray said a portion of the boot had been removed so the passengers could look inside but said the girls were completely unrestrained.

“We didn’t even see the second child to begin with because the first child was on top of her,” Sergeant Gray told PerthNow.

“There was a load of shopping in the back and the girls were wrapped in a rug. It beggars belief.”

Sgt Gray said initially the four adults claimed their baby seat had been stolen.

“When we discovered the second child that excuse went out the window.”
