Police Announce $1 Million Reward For Information On William Tyrrell Disappearance

Police in New South Wales have announced a $1 million dollar reward for any information that leads to the whereabouts of William Tyrrell.

The youngster was just three years old when he went missing from the backyard of his grandmother’s home on the morning of September 12, 2014. No trace of him has been found since.

Now, two years into the investigation of who could be behind William’s mysterious disappearance, police held a press conference this morning at the Manly police station to update the public on the investigation. They have announced an enormous reward, in the hope it will motivate individuals with information that might lead police to the youngster to come forward. The reward is the largest in New South Wales history.

Police also revealed they have more than 600 persons of interest in the case who are being actively investigated. Currently, investigators are operating under the idea that William was abducted. In addressing the media this morning, Detective Chief Inspector Gary Jubelin said that the fact police were still not sure what happened to William was “unacceptable”.

“It’s very important that I dispel the perception that the announcement of the reward means we’ve run out of lines of inquiry,” Jubelin said.”If he’s alive, or if we find William’s remains, we’ve said to the family, we’re going to do everything possible to find out what happened to William.”

Jubelin said that he was certain someone out there knew where William was, and that it was more than time to come forward.

“I am sure people know where he is. We potentially have a victim who could still be alive. Concealing a serious offence, is a criminal offence – but that is negated if you provide the information to police.”

“You’re in a much better position if you come to us than if we come to you.”

NSW Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione also wanted to ensure the public knew that, even though it had been two years, the investigation was not slowing down in the least.

“The investigation is not winding down if anything, it’s ramping up. With a $1m reward, there’s a million good reasons to come forward.”

William was last seen in Kendall on the mid-NSW coast on the morning of September 12th, 2014. He was wearing a spiderman costume and would have turned five this year.

If you know anything about William’s disappearance, now is the time to come forward.
