Should They Be Allowed to Come Home?

Karen Nettleton, a Grandmother from Peakhurst has written an open letter to the Prime Minister pleading for his help in bringing home her daughter Tara, and her three Grandchildren.  Tara’s husband, terrorist Khaled Sharrouf is missing and presumed dead in Syria.  To make matters even more horrifying, the 14 year old daughter of Tara and Khaled Sharrouf has been married off to Mohamed Elomar, a fellow terrorist in Syria.

Ms Nettleton says that her daughter Tara has made ‘The mistake of her lifetime’.  Karen has only spoken out now as she is in fear of her grandchildrens lives should they remain.

Tara Nettleton was only 17 years old when she fell pregnant to Khaled Sharrouf.  In 2013, both Khaled Sharrouf and Mohamed Elomar left Australia to join ISIS in Syria.  Not long afterwards, his wife Tara and their three children also followed him to Syria.  Mr Elomar had a wife and four children in Australia who also tried to travel to Syria to join him, but failed. Mrs Elomar was detained at Sydney Airport in 2014 and charged with terrorist offences.

Julie Bishop has stated that Australia will not do anything at this stage until both Khaled and Mohamed have been confirmed dead.

Prime Minister Abbot has stated that if the family return to Australia, they will be dealt will under the full severity of the law.

So I ask you, the people of Australia…
