Make or Bake Christmas Presents!

Christmas isn’t very far away – and if you are strapped for cash (I am ALWAYS broke this time of year) – then it is time to put your thinking cap on and think outside the square when it comes to Christmas presents for Grandparents, bosses, friends and neighbours.

When I usually think of ‘make your gifts,’ – I’ll admit I think back to the gifts my children lovingly made for me that are really, quite crap.  But these are far from crap – in fact – I’d love you all to make something to me – post it to the address listed on the website hahaha. Anyway, we have 11 make-or-bake Christmas presents here that are not only really yummy but also really easy to make. Let’s get started—

Here are some Make or Bake Christmas Presents for you!

1. Nuts and Bolts

Nuts and Bolts is a traditional savoury snack mix that uses cereals, nuts and curry powder to make a super delicious mix.  I make this for my Father every single year – best of all – you can make bulk lots in your slow cooker!

3. Pickled Onions

Pickling onions are the smaller white onions you can buy at your local supermarket.  With a bit of vinegar and spices – you can make delicious; crunchy home made pickled onions that are your very own specialty!!!! I like mine super spicy – so I load of chili.  Luckily, my Dad does too because I also make a batch for him every year!

4. Honeycomb Toffee

Toffee or any confectionery for that matter is always a ‘Winner Winner Chicken Dinner’ when it comes to Christmas gifts.  Because everyone loves something sweet – and nothing comes from the heart more so than homemade lollies.  Honeycomb is one of my favourite things to make – and if you trust your kids not to touch when it is hot – get them to help you out.  Seeing the scientific result of adding the bicarbonate of soda is truly a wonderful mouth-watering sight to see!

6. Candied Popcorn

Do you remember Lolly Gobble Bliss Bombs from when you were a kid?  I’m not sure if they still have them – I certainly could not keep them in my house because I would eat a whole bag in a single sitting.  Which is why I encourage you NOT to make this candied popcorn.  It is simply too damn delicious to endure.

11. Peanut Brittle

Peanut Brittle is really easy to make – but is a very adaptable recipe too.  For something a bit fancier, use cashews or macadamia nuts.  You could even add some crushed candy canes for a ‘Christmassy’ feel.  To serve, wrap the peanut brittle in brown paper and string – simple, inexpensive and very elegant!
