There’s nothing wrong with adding personal touches to your special day, but a theme wedding can get a bit crazy—and really, there’s nothing wrong with that either. Realistically, it’s your big day and you’re the one who will be living with the unique photos (and memories) for the rest of your life!
Wedding themes come in two categories; the slight nod to a shared interest or the full blown theme wedding where even the guests are required to dress as part of the theme.
The Slight Nod
This approach involves centrepieces, decorations, music and food tastefully entwined with a theme to give the wedding a personalised touch. Just about any theme can work here, as all themes can be toned down to a simple level by just focusing on key elements to translate the theme to the wedding decorations. This method is best for those on a budget too.
The Full Blown Production
Having your guests dress the part, designing the food and decorations to fit the theme are all part of the fun. This method is an expensive way to go, with lots of hiring and custom designs, but results in a day no-one will forget. Don’t forget the photos – it won’t be often you all get together looking so fabulous!

One couple from Bournemouth in the UK, recently married incorporating several themes from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1’s wedding, including changing their names to Cullen by deed poll after celebrating their Breaking Dawn-themed wedding. Potential themes to consider for a wedding might include 1950’s, Mafia, Jane Austen, Circus, Fun Fair, Movie or TV show or choice, Flapper, Emo, Disney, Medieval or Sci Fi. Really the sky is the limit, it’s more about what you would love to have for your special day and how open your partner (and mother for that matter) might be to a crazy caper.
