10 Best Soups to Enjoy This Winter
Cold mornings, fluffy socks and the fast run from the hot shower to the bed at night! Love it or hate it, the BEST thing about Winter is the soups!
We have compiled a list of the 10 Best Soups to enjoy this Winter! Here they are:
1. Pea & Ham Soup
Of all the soups, this would have to be my absolutely favourite. Thick, hearty and delicious. This recipe uses the whole ham hock, which you chop up at the end so you can enjoy huge chunks of ‘bacon’ in your soup. Guaranteed to be enjoyed, even by any men in your life – because it is a MANLY soup!

3. Cream of Pumpkin Soup
There wouldn’t be a list of EPIC soups without the family favourite, Pumpkin Soup. Now the great thing I like about Pumpkin Soup is that you can freeze it – plus, add a teaspoon of hot Thai Chili Paste, and you have an amazing tangy Thai Style Pumpkin Soup. Drool factor 10!

4. Lose a Kilo Soup
Winter is usually a time when I really don’t want to get on my treadmill, or go to the gym, or pretty much get out of my warm, cosy bed. I love this soup, it is full of yummy Winter vegetables and is very nutritious and healthy. It is also a great way to ‘Lose a Kilo’.

Containing all the delicious winter vegetables, with a dish of richness, this ‘souped-up’ version of vegetable soup is a little naughtier than standard vegetable soup – but it is Winter….

Another tremendously hearty soup – and a firm favourite. I like mine so thick you can stand a spoon up in it! Serve it with some cheesy toasts and a glass of red!

7. Rustic Tomato Soup
There is a study I read somewhere that said that Tomato Soup was one of the most nutritious foods you could eat! This version is very very rich, I like to add a dash of sour cream on top to break through that richness. Nom nom nom nom nom…..

8. Carrot & Coriander Soup
I recently went to a restaurant in Toowoomba who served this soup as a complimentary starter – topped with Fennel Seeds in tiny little steaming bowls. And you know, it warmed me from the inside out – all the way to my toes. Was so refreshing for soup – and had I of not tried it, I don’t think I would have picked it off the menu.

9. Slow Cooker Chicken Noodle Soup
My Slow Cooker is always on the bench in Winter, in fact, I made porridge in it just this morning – so delicious! Oh but I get away from the subject at hand… Chicken Noodle Soup – a favourite of children everywhere… even my children who are possibly the fussiest kids in on the eastern seaboard love it!

10. French Onion Soup
If you haven’t made French Onion Soup from scratch, you can’t comment. It is freaking delicious. I know it has a billion onions in it – but they really make the soup nice and sweet. And to be traditional, you HAVE to make the cheesy croutons to sit in the soup (on top of the onions) – such a filling, rich and decadent soup. Probably my all-time favourite!
