I love the crumble, I could eat that all by itself! But, (just so I get my serving of fruit for the day) I do eat the apples as well.

If I want to upgrade it a little bit more, I drizzle – or if I may be honest, pour! – some condensed milk on it.

It’s so bloody delicious!

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Mix the pie apples and 1 tablespoon of the brown sugar together and place in the bottom of a pie dish.

  2. In a separate bowl, mix the rolled oats, brown sugar and melted butter.

  3. Press the mixture on top of the apples to form a crust.

  4. Place in oven for about 25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and crunchy.

Recipe Hints and Tips:

  • Apple Crumble is beautiful served straight out of the oven with a bit of whipped cream or ice cream.
  • You can also add (if you have them on hand) 1/2 cup muesli or, 1/4 cup cashews or, 1/4 cup dried fruit. Simple add them in with the rolled oats mix.
  • Suitable to freeze for up to two months. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.
