Bake a Whole Months Worth of School Snacks in One Afternoon

Save yourself time, by cooking in advance!

I really like to try and save time during the school term, because all Mums are busy, and we need some down time, whilst still getting shit done….  But cooking these great school snack ideas in a single afternoon, think of all the time (and money) you will save when making the school lunches every morning!

Start the week off with:

1. Mince Scrolls:

Mince scrolls are very filling!  So they make a good school lunch or even an easy dinner on those nights when you are too busy and or stuffed to cook!  Sausage mince does give you a better end result in this recipe – but it can be very fatty…  So choose wisely.

How to Freeze Mince Scrolls:

Allow the mince scrolls to cool totally.  Individually wrap the scrolls in plastic wrap, then place in a ziplock bag.  They will last well in the freezer for up to two months.  To defrost, just remove from the zip lock bag and allow to defrost for 30 minutes on the bench top.  If you want them warm, preheat the oven and bake them at 150 degrees for 10 minutes.

2. Bacon & Vegetable Slice:

4. Potato Pancakes:

Potato Pancakes are a favorite with kids, this is nice and easy, cheap and delicious!  Grown-ups will love them too! They make a delicious snack on their own or are a good accompaniment for roasts with gravy (as an alternative to baked potatoes).

5. Zucchini Slice:

Zucchini or summer squash is a very nutritious vegetable that contains a lot of vitamins and minerals. I heard it contains a high level of potassium, vitamin C, and fibre! But sometimes, it can be quite hard to get the kids to eat vegetables such as zucchini, which is why this recipe for zucchini slice is fabulous!
