We’ve got some new savoury balls for you to try! If your kids love two minute noodles, then they are going to love San Choy Bau Noodle Balls! These are fun for the whole family and a great entertainer dish. San Choy Bau Noodle Balls look fun, taste great and are fairly easy to make. Plus, they are freezable and adaptable. Enjoy them as an after school snack with the kids, as a refreshing change from sausage rolls and party pies at your next party or even as an alternative to school sandwiches. San Choy Bau Noodle Balls are our sixth featured Food Waste Challenge recipe – extra special recipes designed to help you reduce your food waste, love your food more and use up any pantry staples and leftovers. Method

  1. Pour 1 cup of boiling water over noodles and add flavouring

  2. Set aside for 5 minutes until soft.

  3. Drain water and pour into large bowl.

  4. Add remaining ingredients and mix well.

  5. Preheat deep fryer to 150 degrees.

  6. Using 1 teaspoon of mix roll into balls and cook in batches of 10 for 3 minutes.

  7. Drain on paper towel.

  8. Serve with sweet chilli or soy dipping sauce.

  9. San Choy Bau Noodle Bars are suitable for freezing up to four months. Double, or even triple the batch so you have these savoury balls ready to serve anytime you need a quick appetiser.

  10. When freezing San Choy Bau Noodle Balls, place balls in a single layer in a GLAD Sandwich Snap Lock Bag. Lightly place your hand over the bag to remove any access air before snapping shut.

  11. Be sure to label the bag and store on the side of your fridge for easy access and removal. If your find that your freezer is quite full, move the back stuff to the front and try to keep similar recipes together. You can easily fit several bags of savoury balls, slices and other freezable snacks into your freezer by only placing a single layer of the item in the Snap Lock Bag and stacking the bags on top of one another.

  12. You can also store San Choy Bau Noodle Balls in the fridge for up to three days. Simply place the balls in a GLAD Snap Lock Bag as above and seal.

  13. Ditch the party pies and save by taking a batch of these noodle balls to your next party ($10 savings!)

  14. Don't rely on the bickies and crackers for an after school snack - simply take out a bag of our noodle balls from the freezer a few hours before the kids get home from school ($15 savings)
