Method

  1. Heat frypan with 1 tablespoon oil over high heat, add diced onions and garlic. Stir until lightly browned, add mince and brown.

  2. Pour in tomatoes, stir through gravy powder.

  3. Add flour to mince and cook off for 2 minutes over medium heat. Set aside.

  4. Heat saucepan over medium heat, add butter and flour stir until melted and well mixed.

  5. Cook for 2 minutes stirring constantly, this will 'cook off' the flour flavour.

  6. Pour in milk slowly, whisking the whole time to make a smooth paste. Continue to whisk over medium to low heat until sauce thickens.

  7. Pour 1/3 of the mince mixture into extra large casserole dish.

  8. Top with 1/3 white sauce, sprinkle with grated cheese.

  9. Place a layer of hash browns over the white sauce and repeat.

  10. Finish the top layer with grated cheese.

  11. Bake in oven for 40 minutes until golden brown.

  12. Hash Brown Lasagne is suitable for freezing for up to 4 months or keep refrigerated for up to 3 days in an air tight container.
