Recipe Hints and Tips:

We added cucumber flowers with carrots to our child's lunch box to continue to floral Hawaiian theme and just add a little fun to the mix. You can also mix it up with coconut water as a special treat on Hawaiian pizza school lunch day! It's like being on a holiday, for the lunch hour at least!

glad product shot (2)Another fun themed lunch box idea is a Japanese Bento Box complete with sushi rolls. Just be sure to stick to vegetarian rolls if your child does not have access to a fridge to store his lunch. Sushi rolls are a great sandwich alternative and when wrapped correctly, they will remain fresh. GLAD Wrap with EasyCut Dispenser is the best way to ensure your food remains fresh, even when storing in the fridge for a day or two.  I find that this is the only cling wrap that actually locks in the flavour and doesn't result in the sushi going soggy in the middle.

One of the things that can be hard for kids when starting school, whether they are five or ten, is leaving the comfort of home and having mum with them all day. Ease them int the transition of school and let them know you are missing them and thinking about them. Look into adding a personal touch into your kid's lunch box with these great ideas:

  •  Include a small 'prize' in the lunch box daily.  Small things such as book marks, pencils, stickers or trinkets to make lunch fun. These are just a sweet way to let your kids, especially the little ones that may be a little weary of returning or starting school know that you are still there in spirit.
  • Include a countdown reminder to a special event coming up.  Something like 'Only 5 days until your birthday' or 'Two weeks until school holidays'.  Give your children something to look forward to, both lunch wise and treat wise.
