Is Chicken Mince Healthier than Beef Mince?

Yes it is!  Although Aussie’s were a bit wary of using chicken mince at first, it is now gaining popularity as one of the most loved minces available.  Chicken mince is low in fat and is considered a lean meat, so its great for people watching their weight. And if you are looking for an even healthier mince than chicken mince, try Turkey Mince!

One serve of chicken mince has 6 grams of fat and 19 grams of protein.

What is Chicken Mince Made From?

Chicken Mince is made from all the chicken trimmings (it is 100% chicken) that has then been placed through a mincer.

What is the Best Way to Use Chicken Mince?

Chicken mince easily absorbs the flavours that you are cooking with.  So chicken rissoles, chicken meatballs and asian flavours are a fantastic choice.

Chicken mince can taste a little bland on its own, so don’t be scared to experiement with strong flavours.

How Can I Make Chicken Mince at Home?

Chicken Mince is really easy to make at home – if you have a mincer, just feed through any pieces of raw chicken without the skin.  If you don’t own a mincer, you can just use a sharp knife to cut the chicken into very small pieces.

Remember though when cooking chicken mince that if you are using all breast that can give you a bit of a ‘dry’ result, so use a combination of both white meat and brown meat. White meat is the chicken breast and rib.  Brown meat is chicken leg and thigh.  The brown meat has a bit more fat and a lot more flavour.

20 Best Recipes Using Chicken Mince

1. Chicken Rissoles

If you think that plain Chicken Rissoles sounds a bit boring, remember that chicken mince ‘absorbs’ the flavour of what it is being cooked with – so don’t be scared to add some flavouring – things like a teaspoon of curry powder, some vegetable stock (the powder version) or even some fresh spinach leaves and Feta cheese….
