13 Delicious Chicken Drumstick Recipes That Are Cheap and Easy

Chicken Drumsticks or Chicken Legs are probably one of the cheapest cuts of meat you can purchase at your local Supermarket.

You can often pick them up at the deli section for as little as $3 per kilogram. And seeing times are tough right now – families have to save money wherever they can! As a Mum, I love the fact I can make a huge batch of chicken drumsticks and then pop them in the fridge for my hungry teenage boys to be able to graze whenever they like. They are also nifty for school lunches too.

Here are 15 Delicious Chicken Drumstick Recipes that are both cheap and easy!

1. Honey Soy Drumsticks

If you are looking for a cheap and FAST dinner – you can’t go past this recipe for Honey Soy Drumsticks. This is my Mum’s recipe and I have been eating this for over 30 years. The secret? The orange juice!

This recipe only has four ingredients! This is a firm family favourite at our place – we have it at least once we week.

4. Bacon-Wrapped Chicken Legs

This is a great family-friendly recipe that only has a few ingredients and is delicious, especially if served with some mashed potato and steamed greens.

5. Slow Cooker Apricot Chicken

Remember eating Apricot Chicken as a kid? Well, we still have it quite regularly at our house. I tend not to use the Apricot Nectar as it can be really tricky to find it at the Supermarket, instead I grab the really large tins of halved apricots and pour the whole lot in – and it tastes exactly the same. Add a bit of curry powder if you want to turn it into Apricot Chicken Curry.

6. Sesame and Hoisin Sticky Chicken Drumsticks

This recipe has some BITE to it – but if you don’t like spicy food, just cut out the chilli. This is a great one to cook in bulk and have it in the fridge for kids to graze on.

Citrus and Chicken are a match made in heaven. This recipe is nice and easy, just throw all the ingredients in together and bake. If you want your chicken drumsticks to be a bit sweeter and stickier, substitute the honey for golden syrup.

8. Easy Yogurt Baked Chicken Pieces

With only a few simple ingredients you probably already have on hand, this recipe makes the chicken drumsticks super moist and delicious. The Greek Yogurt acts as a meat tenderiser and gives the drumsticks a bit of a flavour kick! Although this recipe calls for chicken pieces on the bone, you can just use chicken drumsticks on their own.

11. Creamy Mustard Chicken Casserole in the Slow Cooker

This delicious recipe can be whacked in the slow cooker where it will bubble and cook ready for you to eat at dinner time. It just must be served with mashed sweet potato!

12. Slow Cooker Lemon Chicken

This recipe specifies chicken breast – but as you can see from the photo below, I use chicken drumsticks. Chicken on the bone always has so much more flavour than chicken breasts – which can really be dry when you cook them in the slow cooker.
