To begin, a pre-made shortcrust pastry base is rolled out and placed in a tart pan before being blind-baked for a crisp bottom layer. Next, the onions are peeled and sliced before being sautéed in butter until they reach a perfect caramelized flavor.

  1. Melt the butter in a large pan.

  2. Add the sliced onions and simmer gently until they are soft but not browned.
