Reducing Food Costs with Portion Control

Reducing Food Costs with Portion ControlMeat costs are a concern for everyone when trying to cut the grocery bill and portion sizes are really important when trying to stick to a budget. We have some great, simple information on reducing  food costs with portion control.

It is estimated that most of us eat 2-3 times more meat than recommended; follow the recommendations and you can save heaps.

Recommended portions of meat, fish, poultry & alternatives-

– 65-100gm cooked meat/chicken (eg ½ cup mince, 2 small chops, or 2 slices roast meat)

– 80-120g cooked fish fillet,

– 2 small eggs, â…“ cup cooked dried beans, lentils, chickpeas, split peas or canned beans, or 1/3 cup peanuts/almonds

I have cut our meat portions and filled our plates with more vegetables and feel so much better for it.
