Ingredients

  • 1 Lamb Shanks 4 pieces
  • 2/3 cups Sour Cream
  • 1 tbsp Plain Flour
  • 2 tbsp Corn Flour
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Ground Coriander
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 2 Chicken Stock Cubes
  • 4 Cardamom Pods
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 large Carrot diced
  • 1 large Onion cut into wedges
  • 1 cup Button Mushrooms cut in half
  • 1 Tomato 400 grams, diced
  • 1 Potato 400 grams, whole small, washed but not peeled


Method

  1. Combine sour cream and flour together in a small bowl.
  2. Mix together in a separate bowl the cornflour and the water to make a paste.
  3. In a saucepan combine the chilli powder, coriander, ginger, stock cubes, cardamom, tomatoes, water and nutmeg bring to the boil.
  4. Slowly add cornflour paste to the tomato mixture, stirring constantly, let simmer for 2 minutes.
  5. Remove from the heat and slowly stir sour cream and flour mixture in.
  6. Arrange the onions in the base of a slow cooker,  Lay the shanks on top and pour over the tomato mixture.
  7. Add the carrots, potatoes and mushrooms on top of the sauce.
  8. Cook in the slow cooker on high for 8 hours.
