Savoury Brown Rice makes a wonderful accompaniment to most dishes!  It is so much better for you than traditional white rice and has a delicious nutty flavour not unlike Quinoa.

There is a bit of a trick to get it right – and we are sharing that with you today!

Method

  1. Add the rice to a sieve or colander and wash it well under a running tap.  When the water runs clean, add the rice to a large pot and cover with water.

  2. Allow it to sit for 30 - 45 minutes.

  3. Drain the water and discard.

  4. Add the stock to the rice and place on low heat.

  5. Simmer for 30 - 45 minute until the rice is lovely and tender and has absorbed all the stock.  Take off the heat.

  6. Add the butter and salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately.

Recipe Hints and Tips:

  • Savoury Brown Rice is suitable to freeze for up to two months.
