Mum Gives Birth Naturally To A Five-Kilogram Baby At Home

This is the incredible moment a mother has given birth naturally to a five-kilogram baby at home — and her expression at the gender reveal was priceless.

Natalie had an idea that her baby would be on the larger side, but she didn’t have a hunch on her baby’s gender, so when she finally gave birth to her baby, her expression was priceless.

Natalie’s home birth was captured by photographer Laura Fifield, in a series of amazing photos, including the surprised look on Natalie’s face when she learned that her baby was a boy, who she named Simon.

Ms Fifield posted the incredible images of the home birth in her blog and her Facebook page. She wrote:

“Yup, she did it, at home, no interventions, no internal exams, no complications … and naturally delivered an 11lb 2oz (5.05kg) baby BOY!”

Ms Fifield described that Natalie’s home birth took place in a candle-lit room, with “soft music” playing “along with essential oils diffusing.” “Her birth space was serene and comforting,” she wrote.

She added that the home birth was “family-centred”, with Natalie’s two older children joining her, and her partner, to welcome their younger sibling into the world. “Once he was out we could tell he was a little chunker!” she wrote.

Ms Fifield also described how Natalie and her husband “immediately fell in love” with their new addition. She added that it wasn’t until after Natalie and baby Simon had spent time doing skin to skin and breastfeeding that they realised just how much of a “chunker” Simon actually was.

“Imagine the surprise when [Natalie’s] midwife announced ‘He’s 11lbs, 2oz Natalie!’. Oh my goodness, we were all shocked!” she wrote.

The look of utter disbelief and pure joy in Natalie’s eyes can be seen in full in Ms Fifield’s website.
