Mum’s Fundraising Page Attacked By Trolls

A mother has told of her pain after trolls attacked the fundraising page set up after her partner and daughter were killed in a car accident.

Mum, Xanna Weavell, 18, from Tasmania, was the sole survivor of the fatal crash that killed her 19-year-old partner, Alex and two-year-old daughter, Ruby on Thursday.

Before the collision, the vehicle had been queued at a Random Breath Test station on the Tasman Highway. Alex then took a U-turn out of the line of waiting vehicles and sped off in the opposite direction, tragically losing control and hitting a pole.

Alex and his daughter lost their lives when the car crashed, split in two and burst into flames, while Xanna survived.

Since the accident, a GoFundMe page was created to support Xanna. However, hours after it was set up, a deluge of nasty comments started to flood the page.

Xanna’s sister, Jazmine Weavell, says her family have been saddened by the hurtful comments at an already difficult time. She told Kidspot:

“I think it’s very disrespectful that people are saying such negative comments when they don’t know them personally or what happened, but we expected people to have negative things to say.

“People just thrive off it these days and it’s honestly not right of them but there isn’t anything we can do. We know the truth and know how much Alex loved and adored his beautiful daughter.

“Ruby never went without, she was loved by so many and touched so many hearts.”
