7. Be prepared

Before the interview, review the job outline and identify any areas where your skills may be weaker. This will give you the opportunity to plan how to answer any tricky questions and turn your weaknesses around into strengths.

It is so important to know your resume/CV back to front and be able to answer questions around previous jobs. When talking about past employers, keep it positive and never talk badly of a previous boss or workplace.

Prepare anecdotal stories to illustrate how you’ve applied your skills and knowledge to real life situation and explain the outcome.

8. Be natural and be memorable.

You could be interviewing alongside ten other people with similar skills and experience to you, so you want to stand out. Smile and be friendly towards everyone from the security staff, receptionist, to your interviewers. Make it clear to your interviewers that you want to be there and are keen to be hired.

9. Bring your personality to the interview

At the beginning of most interviews, there will be a bit of small talk. Find something interesting to share about yourself, maybe you have an unusual hobby or have just returned from an overseas trip.
