This Frugal Chocolate Slice has lovely basic ingredients that you will have on hand in your pantry already, and it is just delicious.  This is one of my Mum’s recipes – really easy to make and even good for the kids to make alone.

Frugal Chocolate Slice, the best recipe for a quick bite at parties – or, when you’re just hungry!

Frugal Chocolate Slice | Stay at Home Mum

It is a great recipe for the school lunch box – or make a few and freeze it so you can grab it out anytime!

Now if you don’t have any Rice Bubbles on hand – you really can substitute them for any basic cereal.  I’ve made this recipe with Weetbix and Cornflakes and it has worked out just as well!

You can even turn this recipe into a dessert, just heat up a slice, top it with a bit of Chocolate or Caramel Sauce, and a great big scoop of vanilla ice cream – yum!

Perfect for a sometimes after school snack or morning tea with the girls!

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 160 degrees.

  2. Combine all dry ingredients (except the icing sugar) in a mixing bowl.

  3. Pour in the melted butter and mix well.

  4. Press into a 13 x 24cm slice tin, then bake for 20 minutes in a moderate oven.

  5. While still warm, sprinkle with icing sugar or coconut.

Recipe Hints and Tips:
