I know – right!? IN. YOUR. DISHWASHER!!!

Keep the Skittles out of the kids reach because today we are going to show you how to make Skittles Vodka at home – and it looks FANTASTIC and is a load of fun (for the over 18’s that is!).

Why the dishwasher? Well most sweet drinks (cordial etc) are made from a sweet syrup – which gives you the best end result – and usually that involves a lot of stirring and work with a saucepan.

This way is effortless – because the heat in your dishwasher is actually perfect for making this drink!

Start making your skittles vodka!

If you’ve ever wanted to try something new, then why not start making your own skittles vodka? It’s great for parties and holidays, and it’s actually very easy to make. All you need is some vodka, skittles, and a mason jar.

Simply pour the liquor into the jar, add the skittles, and then seal the jar tightly. Let it sit, shaking occasionally. After that, simply strain the mixture and enjoy! This drink is a great way to add a little bit of fun to your next party.

Step 1:  Grab Everything You Will Need

It’s always a good idea to grab everything you will need before making the drink. That way, you won’t have to stop in the middle to run to the store for ingredients. For this recipe, you will need skittles and liquor. The skittles will be used to create a rainbow effect.

Which is:

  • 5 x 200-gram bags of Skittles (or a large 1kg bag if you can find them)
  • 5 x 750ml bottle of vodka (get a decent brand if you want a decent outcome)

Of course, you could only make one bottle if you so desire – but then you’ll have leftover Skittles!!!!!!

Step 2:  Sort Your Skittles Colours

There are five colours of Skittles:

  • Yellow = Lemon
  • Green = Lime
  • Orange = Orange
  • Red = Strawberry
  • Purple = Blackcurrant

Technically speaking – you should have 200 grams of each colour. Then, you can pick the skittles one at a time or in small handfuls. Simply combine your favourite liquor with skittles of the same colour. For example, you could mix rum with red skittles or vodka with green skittles. This is a great way to add an extra layer of flavour to your skittles sorting experience.

Step 3:  Pour Some Vodka Out (But Keep it Aside!!!)

Pour about 1/3 of each bottle out into another container.  Then you need to add the individual coloured Skittles to the bottle.  If the Skittles don’t fit in the ‘mouth’ of the bottle, crush them first (or put them in a blender for a second).  Put the lid back onto the Vodka bottles very tightly – and shake the bottles well for about two minutes!!!!!

Wrap each bottle in some Gladwrap to prevent any spillage (we don’t want spillage – too expensive to waste!

Step 4: Turn Your Mix into Syrup in the Dishwasher

Place the bottles of sealed vodka into the bottom basket of your empty dishwasher.  Don’t add soap!  Put the dishwasher on the highest setting (that is the hottest) – and then wait for the magic to happen.

When the dishwasher is finished – remove the vodka and remove the plastic wrap.  Again give it a shake.  If there are any solid bits of the Skittles still left in the bottom, either run it through another wash, or strain it through a piece of muslin cloth.

Allow the mixture to cool to room temperature, then top up the bottle with the remaining vodka from earlier, and chill until cold!

Step 5:  Enjoy Your Skittles Flavoured Vodka!

What’s the best way to enjoy your skittles vodka? Straight up, on the rocks, or perhaps with a mixer? However you like it, the drink is a delicious and refreshing way to enjoy your favourite sweet treat. Whether you’re enjoying a night in with friends or family, or out on the town, this is sure to make your evening even more enjoyable. So next time you’re looking for a fun and tasty way to enjoy your liquor, be sure to try skittles vodka!

Keep it in the fridge or freezer (it is alcoholic – so it won’t freeze!). Enjoy with lemonade or soda water depending on how sweet you like your drinks!

List of other Lollies you can Use:

Skittles with liquor is a classic choice for a lolly jar. They are small and bite-sized, making them easy to pop into your mouth. The fruity flavours of the skittles pairs well with the sweetness of the liquor, making for a delicious treat.
