Savoury Brown Rice

Delicious savoury brown rice dish with herbs and spices, perfect for healthy meals.

Savoury Brown Rice makes a wonderful accompaniment to most dishes!  It is so much better for you than traditional white rice and has a delicious nutty flavour not unlike Quinoa.

There is a bit of a trick to get it right – and we are sharing that with you today!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Brown rice-uncooked

  • 4 cups Beef, vegetable or chicken stock

  • 1 tbsp Butter

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  • Add the rice to a sieve or colander and wash it well under a running tap.  When the water runs clean, add the rice to a large pot and cover with water.
  • Allow it to sit for 30 – 45 minutes.
  • Drain the water and discard.
  • Add the stock to the rice and place on low heat.
  • Simmer for 30 – 45 minute until the rice is lovely and tender and has absorbed all the stock.  Take off the heat.
  • Add the butter and salt and pepper to taste and serve immediately.

  • Savoury Brown Rice is suitable to freeze for up to two months.
