Talking to people

Answered 3 years ago

Do you think it’s rude to have a full on conversation when you’re out with your kids and or partner when you are about to do grocery shopping?

My partner thinks it’s rude and think it’s rude to say sorry can’t chat now

Rude isn't the word. Infuriating & frustrating are better. DH sees an aquaintance, client or his parents friend from 20 years ago & stops to chat for 20 minutes to be polite. I'm left wrangling bored kids. DH ends up taking kids back to the car while I bolt in/out of shops because they've had enough & he calls it 'me getting to shop in peace' like it's a favour.

It's additionally infuriating because he is non social at parties & sits in the corner with resting bastard face or falls asleep. Sigh.

This sounds similar to a point of tension with my husband & myself but it's more about leaving other people waiting. My husband has zero care factor when it comes to leaving myself or anyone else waiting while he has a really long conversation or does anything else for that matter & drives me nuts because I hate to have people waiting for for me. I think it's so rude. I always have a quick chat & say "oh I better go we're in the middle of shopping" but not him nope chats away like there's no one else there & nothing else to do. I get it.

It's not rude to have a conversation. It's also not rude to politely excuse yourself so you can do your shopping.
