Just got an email this morning, Wednesday, saying if the kids are returning then to bring in the work packs they’ve been given because they’ll be working through those....my kid may as well stay home and do the work without distractions. She’s dressed and ready to go now.

Weird, ours are being taught and the kids at home have been given different stuff to follow online. That’s a teacher decision I guess, hopefully when they get the swing it picks up

Not until it's compulsory.

I feel everyone is getting complacent.

I think there are too many people who live their lives in fear. unless you, your child, or someone has a bad immune system due to cancer etc, you are not 'risking' anything. We are not italy, ir the US or the UK. Our numbers are minuscule in comparison. Our numbers are even lower if you take all the cruise ship people out. If there were actually 100s of asymptomatic people walking around spreading covid-19 then there would be cluster outbreaks all over the place there's not! From what I've read, it sounds like its mainly parents of primary school kids that feel strongly about keeping their kids home, which is fine. But high school is a whole other situation. Those kids can social distance, have classes and courses they simply cant do at home, online and the work they do is too hard for a lot of parents to be able yo help with.

I don't live in fear. I'm aware of what this virus can do.
We aren't like those other nations because of our shut downs.

The fact is there are MANY more things that are much more likely to affect yours or your childs health than Coronavirus. I also know many teachers (that ive spoken to, mainly primary school) that are excited about the kids coming back. I know not all teachers will feel that way, but a lot do

Yep, although my (high school) kids were getting work to do at home, they weren't being 'taught'. They send through maths sheets but no teaching on how to do what they're supposed to do. The teachers are also very inconsistent in their use of Connect and i would spend over an hour every morning logging in, then checking all the different tabs in each subject to see if there had been anything new put up coz different teachers put things in different places/tabs! Some stuff we didn't know when or if it was due or if it was just prep work. My eldest is in year 10 and i can't help him with a lot of his work! He also really needs the routine and structure of a school day.

Yes, but don’t get too comfortable... there are emails going around these schools and they are reassessing(again) their stance.

ANSWER

Yes, i foster and they have to attend school unless they have medical condition in which case the department needs to seek permission to have them out of school

ANSWER

Yeah. They're not learning shit at home, except the easiest way to piss each other off and drive me up the wall.
Their school can take them so I can go back to work. Fuck this.

4 out of 5 of my friends are sending their kids back, we are in remote WA. The only mum who is not sending her kids back has an immune compromised child.
