So many of us don't get paid if we don't work. People are going to hide their symptoms and lie about contact to ensure they can still work.

Sick leave for corona related cases should still be paid by the employer and reimbursed by the public purse.
Time for the government to step up.

Nothing for casual workers. I don't want to further burden the system but so many of us will have to go to Centrelink.

The problem is they are.... But are compensating the employers with tax refunds but not helping employees. Any funds should be going directly towards keeping employment. I know people getting thousands & it's all going into their personal pocket, not saving jobs.

Not thru tax. The employer pays the employee as normal for their expected usual shifts into their usual bank account. The employer provides the govt dept with proof. The employer is promptly reimbursed that amount.

I think I saw you complaining of that in another post.
Thing is it’s too hard to filter through and find exactly who needs the benefit but by and large most businesses (particularly small buisness) will need some big handouts to stay afloat.

People get so pissy when things get given to small buisness, but it’s usually pretty deserved, they’ve usually taken risks others wouldn’t, manage what others can’t and work what others won’t. And they do it for financial reward.
Many buisness face the very real threat of not only losing their income, but having to pay out staff before themselves, listen to said staff complain and then still be left with nothing.

Majority of buisness will need a hand out and it will need to be bigger than the average family as that may help keep some people in jobs. If businesses fold unemployment sky rockets.

There was talk about it in an update today, although I didn't get to hear the whole thing. I do recall them saying to checkout the website services.gov.au :)
