No, and here's why:
- it's a flu. Not some flesh eating monster roaming the streets. I am a young and healthy woman, the flu does not pose a fatal threat to me usually.
- in the event of chaos and shops closing, I can make do with what we have on hand for several days to a week. After which things would get creative, and my husband would be sent out fishing to provide us with fresh meat (thankfully we live near the ocean).
- why would I purposely feed into this media induced hysteria? It's being taken way out of proportion here in Australia. WE ARE A FIRST WORLD COUNTRY WITH AN AMAZING MEDICAL SYSTEM, AND FIRST WORLD LIVING CONDITIONS. Yes, people might be dying in China, but it's CHINA. The place is..... very different to Australia. At least the part of Australia I'm blessed to live in.
- remember swine flu, bird flu, the 2012 "apocalypse"? You mean to tell me, you can survive all that, but a fucking beer flu (obvs I'm taking the piss since it's named like a lite beer) will wipe us all out? Yeah, okay boomer.
- there are scientists and experts already working on a vaccine. Chill out a bit.
- if I get sick with it and die, no amount of canned food will save me. Sorry creamed corn.

I don't know of anyone doing this? I think there is alot of paranoia surrounding this. I personally won't be, but if it helps you feel better you do what works for you :)

I was planning on just listening to the pandemic reports saying just buy a little extra each week so you're ok - 'don't panic buy'.

Now the news sites have gotten hold of it & blown it out, people are going insane & stripping supermarkets so I just hope I can get a litre of milk tomorrow.

Once I hear that it’s reached it’s peak here in Melbourne that’s when I’m driving down to my coles supermarket and stock piling!!!

The last couple of times I’ve gone shopping, my usually quiet ( coz it’s shit ) shopping centre has been packed out. Woolies, Coles and Aldi where the busiest I’ve ever seen them. So perhaps people are stocking up. I’m not.

I’m just making sure we have the family medications and a couple of boxes of Panadol to ease any symptoms if it happens. I think stocking up on chocolate is an ingenious idea though!

Not at this point. If we start to see more and more cases here then I might reconsider. I’m concerned at this point but not panicking. The only thing extra I did get is my son’s insulin, he’s a type 1 diabetic. He has several vials left but after discussing it with the chemist I decided to go ahead and refill it early. Note: the chemist did not think we were in any danger of drug shortages but when dealing with something as necessary to life as insulin it couldn’t hurt to have a little extra on hand.

Yes as someone who lived though the bushfires. No power, no data, no fuel & food shortage you'd be a fool not to prepare for the worse case scenario because guess what... sometimes the worse actually happens.

My SIL and mum have but I don’t think it is necessary - might buy some extra chocolate just in case
