I am really shy, whats the best way to initiate conversation with strangers?
Answered 4 years ago
I need to make friends maybe find a girlfriend. I have a hard time very hard time breaking the ice without making it feel weird. How do you approach people? At the gym, work, grocery store? I dont go out to bars or clubs not my thing or online dating. I like the natural approach, but i am horrible at it.

If you approached me in the supermarket wanting to be friends I’d think you were weird. I agree with the responder who said to join a club where you have a common interest with someone.

I think you need to join clubs/groups where you will have something in common with people. Could be anything from a sport, book club, art/craft class, photography course etc. If you are sharing an experience you've already got something to talk about. What are your interests?
Not saying it doesn't happen, but I don't know anyone who's made a friend in a supermarket. People just want to get in, do their shopping and get out. Possibly the same with gyms (I don't frequent them though, so don't really know).

Eye contact, a smile.
I remember the exact moment I saw my husband, 14 years ago. We locked eyes across a bar (not exactly a bar, more of a restaurant sports bar type place). I smiled, he smiled and the rest is history! Sometimes it doesn't need to be a big gesture! Good luck xx
