The number of tests being conducted in Victoria alone means higher cases detected, of course. If the other states want to stick their heads in the sand, then that is on them. Agree that complacency has definitely played a part, but the selfishness is out of control. Stay Home!

You sound like trump...more testing means more cases so just stop testing? Omg the stupidity. Other states are still testing, as soon as you get any symptoms you test.

Ramadan, Eid, unprofessional security guards who should be prosecuted and BLM protests. That's how it happened.
Thanks Victoria. You've probably completed what China started.

A lot of things happened at all once. Schools went back to face to face learning, BLM protests, people started to think life could get back to normal & complacency crept in. People got slack in their social distancing & started going out like pre COVID 19. Schools holidays occurred & millions of people started moving around the state more & more.
The virus doesn’t move. We move the virus.
The less we move, the less the virus moves.

It is true. Freeways were full. Shopping centres were full. People thought life was going back to normal. Things were starting to open back up & people were enjoying the freedom.

In Brisbane I have noticed that shopping centres are NOT packed, you can tell by the empty parking spaces that its still about 25% down at least.
There is noticeably less traffic on the roads.
At restaurants nobody is arguing about the need to socially distance.
Beaches are being used, but still plenty of spacing noticeable between people.

Complacency..... security guards sleeping with infected people in quarantine..... BLM protesting without social distancing. Covid is highly, highly contagious. It doesn’t tame much to spread it. A lesson for the rest of the country really because what happened in Vic can happen in any other state.

I think the security guards sleeping with quarantined people is what restarted given Victoria took the bulk of international travellers. Apparently one guard was also an Uber driver so it would have easily spread. Then it was people getting slack with social distancing, hygiene etc that allowed it too keep spreading. Hopefully it's back under control soon and we learn from this second outbreak

I think given protesters were allowed to go out in mass was really the tipping point. They had NO consequences so there for everyone doing the right thing was like "what is the point" it's true though. Why are so many of us staying home and doing the right thing and yet others we are 'protecting' wont do the same for us. It's just the logistics. You can not blame us for being angty when we have spent 80% of this year TRAPPED at home. It's okay if you have people to face time etc but when u dont its very lonely, isolating and mentally messes with you. BUT we have done it for the greater good. Not that anyone will help us or thank us for keeping others safe.

If the government want people to behave they MUST have tougher rules and not allow protests because that was the tipping point of people easing up.

Now add in stupid people slewping with security (wtf sleeps with a stranger anyway smh) but yes it gets out in the open again and spreads. With more te at ing numbers of course will increase.

Bottom line is EVERYONE should be tested. None of this privacy, religious crap to get out of it. Everyone should be tested and those positive sent to isolate in a army or police gated area. That is the only way we will stop the spread since people cant be trusted to STAY HOME.

The public housing out break has been traced to blm protest and the break out from hotels not properly supervising are the two main sources.

Could have been lots of places. I’m in regional Nsw and nobody is socially distancing here! Mums are chatting in clusters at school gates, family are pressuring us to go to big gatherings where they touch each other and hug, people are asking to hold my baby... all it take s is one case and people not being careful.

Regional here as well. We have been lucky, 10 cases total and not in in a long time. I stay home as much as possible but when I go out people are everywhere. Very little to no social distancing going on. It makes me nervous because you are right. All it takes is one person bringing it in with them .
