Where can I find or get free newspapers? Or mulch alternative?

Answered 4 years ago

We have a veggie garden and last summer our water bill was huge so I'm trying to really protect the plants this year and hopefully water less often. I want to use newspapers as mulch but we don't buy them so only get one free local paper a week and it's not enough. We have a massive garden so buying mulch would cost a few hundred which we don't have to spare right now. Any ideas where I could get a few bags of free paper? I have heard somewhere newsagents can give them away anymore as they have to return to suppliers. Or has anyone else got a creative free garden mulch idea? Thanks :)

Go on your local fb chat page and ask if anyone could give you the locally delivered paper. Most people don’t want theirs and would be happy for you to collect it from their driveway. A lot of parents ask this when their kids have paper mache activities. So many people offer theirs up.
