I make my own red sauce, I brown off onion and garlic in olive oil, add canned tomatoes, stock, herbs and a heap of veg -capsicum, spinach, carrot, kale, zucchini and let it all cook. I then cool it and blend it to make a smooth tomato sauce to mix through orecchiette or ravioli.

To the “you have time on your hands comment” it’s actually not time consuming in the slightest and is healthy so well worth it. Oh and finally, are you familiar with the comment, if you have nothing polite to say don’t say anything at all?

I make pasta bake when we know we're going to have a lot of people.

500grams pasta
1kg mince
2 480ml tomato soup cans
1/2 bag veggies (I like the carrot, beans, broccoli and cauliflower)

Boil the pasta till soft, I like to do mine in beef stock cause it tastes better and strain. Cook mince until brown. I add garlic, parsley and pepper while it cooks for more flavour. Steam veggies until soft then blend them with water. Put veggie puree, mince, and pasta in large baking tray and cover with the tomato soup. Mix it all together, sprinkle with cheese and bake for 25min at 200 or until cheese is done to your preference.

Super easy, cheap and quick and I've never had a time where everyone hasn't gone back for seconds. I feed about 8 people with this particular recipe.

You could always buy a heap of pita breads, some easy toppings and let everyone make their own pizzas? Might make a fun activity and it’s relatively cheap and easy.

Cook off some bacon in garlic (add onion if they will eat it) Add in whatever vege you have on hand (grated carrot, Capsicum etc) cook spaghetti pasta until just soft. Let it cool slightly then add grated parmesan cheese, the bacon, a little bit (like 1/4 cup) cream, stir then crack in an egg or two and mix til cooked. Add salt n pepper.

I do t really do homemade pasta..
Try different sauces from supermarket with diff types of pasta.
I bought a nice leggos sundried tomato stir through sauce and pair it with a bought tortellini.
I guess if you had heaps of kids staying over, could buy a roast chicken, use the meat to stir through cooked fettuccine and add your own homemade tomato or cream sauce.
