You will need a lot of support especially during initial training which can take up to 18 months. Different states have different requirements. Some you have to stay at the academy for weeks away from family. Others have a live out policy but you will need to move close by as there is a lot of after hours study.

It is shift work.

My friend did it in nsw - it was really intensive, living in Goulburn for months and studying every night. He found the subjects he had to do assignments for once he was a probationary Constable really difficult to time manage too.
