My grandparents wear jumpers most of the year. I think I've seen my gran without a jumper on maybe twice this summer.

Not only do elderly people feel the cold, but generally they aren't moving around as much either, they aren't eating as much as they used to, they aren't drinking as much water as they need to, their organs aren't functioning as good as they did when they were younger. All these things probably contribute to feeling colder than everyone else

Because they feel the cold. They aren’t able to regulate their temperature like they used to.

Yes, there are many health conditions that affect many people of various ages that prevent their bodies from temperature regulation.

Some people also dress to certain ‘standards’ based on the time period they grew up in, the values of their parents and their personal beliefs.
My grandfather wore a polo shirt and shorts for most of his life no matter the season, he says: in winter he’s a bit cold and in summer he’s a bit hot.

Now he’s very old he really feels the cold, when I go to visit my grandparents house it feels like I’m enterering a sauna

My mum has thyroid disease and kidney disease. Thyroid disease makes her unable to regulate temperature so she feels cold most of the time. Her kidney disease has left her with extreme weight loss. She has no fat to keep her warm. A lot of elderly people have thin and sensitive skin so will wear long sleeved shirts and long pants to keep from getting sun damage.
