Differences between NSW and QLD schooling?
Answered 4 years ago
We are moving from NSW to QLD in a few months. Does anyone know if there is much of a difference in the schooling systems for the 2 states? My children are in primary school

Kindergarten is called prep in melb too. A few yrs it was foundation now it’s prep. I think south Australis call it reception.
Nsw have pre school but vic call it 3yr old kindergarten and 4 yr old kindergarten. So confusing can we not just have one universal name for preschool and then the start of school

Nothing really. Kindergarten is called Prep. Kids usually start the year they turn 5, so your kids (depending when they started) might be the oldest in class). Breaks are Break 1 and 2 rather than recess and lunch (well the school my kids go to anyway).

They'll be pushed back a year. So year 2 goes down to year one, and so on.
