You would make your friend wait for you somewhere else or hang around while you are chatting

No, you are just stating a fact. It would be more rude to stay and chat on while the person you are with has to wait for you like an idiot.

agree. I hate when people do that. I don't expect anyone to be ignorant or rude, but you can easily say 'would love to chat more but I'm actually due to meet someone and don't want to hold them up..'

Yes. I think it rude the way it is phrased. Not even a hello, nice to see you etc even briefly would be better. Being with someone else or in a hurry doesn't mean that you stop showing other friends that you care about them.

I read this differently. It doesn't mean they didn't say hello etc. It sounded to me like they've bumped into each other stopped for a quick hello, it's been a while since seeing each other and could have chatted for ages, but she had to go. It happens to me where you are quickly ducking in shops to grab something, due to meet someone or with someone and you see someone random. You don't necessarily have time to stop in the aisle for a 15 minute yarn as you normally would have done if you didn't have someone with you or waiting for you. Fact of the matter is you didn't pre-arrange a time to meet that person you bumped into and if you have other people waiting around for you it's rude to keep them hanging. Say a quick hi, hows it going, let them know you've got to be somewhere an perhaps arrange to catch up at another time if you are in fact that close or like each other that much. Bumping into someone doesn't mean you have to drop everything and hold others up.

Most times hubby sees someone from work or distant relative and the relative or workmate are selfish and start chatting and can see I am standing next to hubby and I walk away and have a coffee or go to nearest shop and browse until hubby is ready to break free from being selfish
If we have the kids I leave the kids with him 😂😂
