I read the book years ago and I cried so much. Then the movie came out and I cried even more 😢

Haven’t heard of this movie.. but sounds like I won’t be rushing to find it

It's about a little boy, the son of a German officer in WW2, and his family who move to live near the gas chambers for the fathers work. The boy, being oblivious to the political environment around him, secretly befriends a young Jewish boy in the neighbouring work camp. As the movie progresses the boys bond deepens and Bruno (the German officers son) slips into the camp to spend the day with his friend, Schmul. Disguised in the striped uniform worn by the prisoners, and a skull cap, the boys are shunted along with the crowd into a gas chamber and subsequently killed. Upon realising their son is missing, Bruno's parents investigate the chamber and find him dead. I think that's the end, but I'm not sure.
The boy reminds me of my son, and I've never been able to make it past the scene of the parents finding him before I'm too upset to watch anymore. But it's heartbreaking.

That movie I watched years ago. I cannot even hear the name because it makes me physically sick. I will never watch it again. It's a good movie when it comes to life in ww2 but I hated it at the same time. Never ever will I watch it again.

That one about the men who still play tag that's coming out soon, and the emoji movie. I feel embarrassed for us as a race when that's the kind of thing we spend time and money producing.

That tag movie is based on a true story... that's who wr are as a species 🤦‍♀️

I instantly thought 12 years a slave before I clicked on the thread. Omg so depressing and get wrenching.

I instantly thought of it too. I haven't been able to watch more than 30 minutes of that movie even though I've tried 3 times.

Schindler s list. I love the movie but now I've had kids I find it a little hard to watch. Bit to heart wrenching.

Lord of war with Nicholas cage. Hotel Rwanda. Blood diamond. The hurt locker.

Oh man, I loved Lord of War. It was such a different perspective on arms dealing. And Nicholas Cage was so well cast.

One of those ‘shocking but can’t stop watching’ type movies.

Joseph king of dreams. I get that it's a cartoon interpretation of a biblical tale (which may or may not be true) but it just pisses me off. Who the f**k sells their own brother into slavery. Sorry, I don't watch many grown up movies

Well it still happens in poor countries, people sell their kids to human traffickers

Yeah see that's a factor in why I get really riled about the movie. Like today my kids were asking me what slavery is and when my son asked if we have slaves here I nearly broke down trying to explain that some places in the world still have slaves. It just makes me so angry. Like having to explain that to my kids really reminded me of how serious the world is outside our little bubble. I don't know if this makes sense. It makes sense in my head but that's probably not translating through my typing.

Yeah I get what you’re saying. God I don’t look forward to these type of explanations as my kids grow up :(
