My son 9 and is uncircumcised, he has explored himself enough to figure out his foreskin does retract which is good, but now he's been coming to me saying "it's not normal" he isn't sure on how to get it back to its original state. My partner (his father) have been in the shower lately and he is showing our son how to retract and how to get it back to how it should be. After all of this he is still coming to me to get his foreskin back to how it should.
What could be the issue?

Is it stuck back and painful... a doc should look at it right away. Not worth sacrificing his glans vs a little cut to loosen it *ENOUGH*
Probably does not have to be a total circ. Could just be paraphimosis. Assuming that if circumcision was not a no-no, well it likely would have happened before age 9 if you wanted it to. Trying not to impose my judgement/opinion either way. I have no skin in the game BADoomTISH
Otherwise the other advice to help loosen it a bit - like baths and dermaid are great. It's terrific he's already taking care of his hygiene and is cool with coming to you about stuff :)

Start giving him hot baths and encourage him to retract it back and forth a few times in there. The hot water should should allow the skin to stretch easier over time. If his foreskin starts getting retracted more often this should let him get used to doing it on his own and let his foreskin slowly stretch. I have applied the dermaid 1% soft cream to my son before when he was younger and seen great results

Hot baths would be great and as mentioned you really should encourage him to retract and move his foreskin around. Just be sure to be there if it does become stuck behind the glans. Make sure to do research and look into the creams before applying them to his area

It sounds like he has paraphimosis and needs to be circumcised

He won’t be circumcised, that’s not happening

Circumcision is a thing of the past. My 2 boys are intact and uncut is by far the majority

Maybe start by using correct anatomical terms with him (and adults like us) such as penis instead of "willy".

Relax. It always goes back to its natural state. It might be uncomfortable but that's what happens. Just tell him it's okay, it'll sort itself out, he's just got to keep it clean.
Please try every avenue before circumcision. Your doctor can prescribe a cream to loosen the skin.

Not being to get it back forward can be a serious condition called paraphimosis. It can cut the blood supply to the head of the penis.
However, it seems like it will go forward but he's unwilling or unable to do it himself.
Maybe just stop helping him and tell him he's a big boy who needs to do it himself. Provided it's not paraphimosis, there is no harm in it staying back behind the head, and will probably roll forward by itself eventually.

Maybe he feels more comfortable with you . Are you seeing a problem with it retracting or is it normal ?
