I wouldn't worry about oldies abusing my kids because a playgroup means parents stay with their kids to survive and it's all in one big room with everyone together, not in the oldies bedrooms or anything, but id be worried about my babies picking up germs or any sickness going round the old people's home.

My grandmother suffered from dementia and was in a nursing home for 7ish years- we would visit whenever possible and the joy kids brought to the home was priceless,
Alot of elderly go in to nursing homes and dont get many visitors at all.
My 2 favourite memories were watching an 80ish yr old lady play trains with my son and do character voices with him, she had more fun than he did and you couldn’t wipe the smile off her face. And the second was when we arrived nanna was doing group exercise- the kids played along and interacted with all the residents.

If you have concerns you could always go as a volunteer with the playgroup.

These are great ideas. Kids and old people are supervised because the kids could get scared or old people etc.
And a lot of the old people are kinda passed moving and stuff anyway, but it brings joy to oldies and kids learn oldies aren't scary and shouldn't be lockked away

No need to be a**holes seriously!

I know there are daycare centres that are doing this and because the kids have quite a few educators with them they are safe from any wandering off, etc.
Playgroups are usually with parents in attendance and therefore it's the parents responsibility to watch out for their kids.
I highly recommend these sessions as it helps both generations in many ways. It brings so much joy to the elderly and kids love trying to help the elderly. Funniest is when they ask questions about their wrinkly skin, etc.
You even see the joy in educators and carers too. It's such a fun, educational and joyous occasion for all.
