Apparently someone called police because he was allegedly trying to buy cigarettes with a counterfeit $20 note. Derek chauvin has since been charged with 3rd degree murder. That's my understanding but I could be wrong

I'm in two minds about this. Whilst I think kneeling on his neck like that was absolutely disgusting (he very clearly told them he couldn't breathe and then when they were telling him to get in the car, he was ready to comply had they let him up), I think the officer was so busy trying to process the crowd forming he misjudged the way he was handling George Floyd.
The thing that struck me about the video footage was the man who kept trying to interact with the officers (the guy who said bro at least 40 times every sentence). His behaviour kept their focus on him, rather then on their prisoner. But then again, there were 3 officers there at the time, why didn't the other one behind the vehicle step forward to shield the arrest from the crowd (or to insist that the officer get off his fucking neck!).
I don't know. I think they were definitely using excessive force, and were definitely acting like dicks. But I don't think the actual killing was on purpose.
And this whole "he died later at/en route to the hospital" is complete bullshit. He died in the video, on the street, with some asshole crushing his windpipe.
Regardless of what his life was like, he didn't deserve to die like that.

I haven’t watched the video, but I get what you are saying and I agree. There was a viral video recently of a white women in Central Park ‘calling the cops on an African American threatening her life’. The video is by the man- a very polite spoken bird watcher, who says go right ahead. In that video, the woman is literally choking her dog, until it attacks her as she is so overreacting and panicked and not concentrating.. it is disturbing to me, and yet makes sense that she doesn’t even notice she is choking her own dog considering the way she is so out of control. I see the similarity’s with thinking there is a crowd forming.. and being distracted. It is murder, but I feel for everyone here. These police probably have had so many bad experiences that they are on edge at all times and very self protecting, more so than needed in some cases- because of those other times they had a really bad experience.

I saw that. Her name is Amy Cooper. She lost her job over this and voluntarily surrendered the dog back to the shelter. After seeing that dog choking, they would have come for it anyway. Her behaviour was deplorable toward the man too. What normal person does that? As for George Floyd, I haven't watch it either and I don't think I will. I did hear that he said that he can't breathe (or similar) 15 times 💔

That lady is Amy Cooper and the guy Christian Cooper (no relation) She lost her job and the dog over the incident. She deserves everything she gets. I definitely won't be watching the George Floyd video. We'd be watching him die right before our eyes 😢💔

I saw video and he was paying more attention to the crowd forming around him than his knee wedged in George Floyd’s throat. Not only was Floyd saying he can’t breathe, but a number of those watching were emploring him to get off him because he said he couldn’t breathe.

^ I agree. Of course it just been proven yet but it will go to court and the cops will be convicted. Maybe not murder but something pretty serious

Murdered, he did what they asked him to do, was handcuffed and down, so why the fuck did that police officer squashed his neck until he died!!! Suffocation takes a long time to kill someone! The other officers just stood there!!

It's sickening that police still enforce this level of violence.
