Everything is a choice HOWEVER addiction is one of the moat misunderstood things out there. If it was as easy as people think to give up addictions, no one would be addicted to anything. It becomes a mental illness, and needs to be treated as such. Many people start taking drugs to cope with issues because they cant or wont reach out for help. I have sympathy to an extent BUT as with everything they have to want to get better and work hard to break habits. And create new coping mechanisms. Its hard work. There is no quick fix.

No. I don’t have the same empathy for the “street junkies” as famous people. Those famous people have the money to go to rehab. Addicts who are living on the streets or in middle to low income brackets don’t have the same access or financial support to get rehab that could work. Instead they are given revolving door options often around people who are there by court order and have no intention of helping themselves as well as being willing to bring down others.
