Absolutely!!! Plenty of time to have returned before now when it was very clear all over the world that the shit was hitting the fan and everything was being closed down. If you couldn’t get your shit together OR you were one of those complete fuckwits who decided to go away anyway .... too bad and cough up!

Mostly yes, but for those that need it they should be able to pay in instalments, interest free. (I have no idea what payment options there are currently).

Yes 100% there has been enough time. There are a lot of dual citizens coming back that haven't lived her for YEARS or paid taxes to Aus but are now wanting to come her because it's safer. A guy at my work did this with his parents. They are brittish/aus citizens, haven't lived her for 15 years and had no intention of living here again, but they came back a month ago because it was safer than england - why should the Aus tax payers foot the bill for that?

I can see why they come, especially if those families know they will rely on their help, I mean who wouldn’t.(I say this having no parent help ever).. but the issue of quarantine is one I agree they should pay. There does seem to be some genuinely stuck and that does suck especially since flights have dwindled and many flights get cancelled, because who would have know how bad this would get- I do feel those should get an exemption.

If your parents were in England would you think twice about bringing them closer to you where they are safer or just leave them in england where you couldn’t care for them if they became unwell and have them at more risk of catching covid ?

I don’t think this person is Saying they shouldn’t come. Just that as ex pats having lived overseas for years and having the choice of coming back to Aus or staying in the UK or whatever then they should be paying for their quarantine accommodation .
