Would you be upset with no birthday gifts

Answered 4 years ago

I know this sounds so childish but it’s totally getting to me! Good friends of mine, they always have a little party for their birthday and I always contribute to the gift or buy a personalized gift. Last year I got nothing from them except for a text message and I thought maybe they forgot to get me something. I was fine. This year, nothing, again just a Whatsapp. I feel so offended that every year I get them gifts and I get nothing. I have come to the conclusion that I have not gotten a gift because I did not host a party as I did two years ago when I received a gift. But I think that is absurd and very offensive again. I should not have to host a party to receive a present from dear friends. Childish thoughts... I know? Can’t help it

Yes, sorry but you are being childish, i never expect or even really want a gift for my bday, personally you seem a little needy and weird being so hung up on it.

As long as I get a card I don’t need a gift. I have every card from the day I was born to now. Got them all of my mum

This comment just goes to show that everyone is different, each to their own. Some ppl are happy with a card, I honestly recycle them so don't see the point, some ppl do/don't want gifts etc

I’m sorry, but what adult expects gifts on their birthday? If you want to give something for theirs because they have some kind of celebration each year then that’s your choice, but to expect something in return is quite entitled.

I think you might be over thinking it a bit. They might only get you a present if you have a party or get together. Or maybe they really can't afford it. Also a lot of ppl say they don't need/want a present, and it's so true, I buy you a gift voucher, you buy me a gift voucher, we buy another friend a gift voucher, it get pointless. Sometimes you don't need another cheese board/candle/body stuff/dust collecting ornament. Sometimes it's nice just to have a catch up.I know ppl that fit into all these categories. Hope that helps

Lifes so busy these days i don't expect gifts from anyone for my bday & if I do it's a bonus. I think that if it's a problem for you then you should stop buying them gifts it's about the message wishing someone a happy birthday not buying things.
