I don't get the new way to report income to centrelink

Answered 4 years ago

It says reporting your gross amount before tax. Yes but isn't that what already happens because you put in the hours worked and your payrate. Or do you put what's on your payslip? But my pay period is different to the reporting period. I've read all the info but I still don't get it

Hopefully I can explain this in a way it makes sense. For example, say your fortnightly Centrelink reporting period is the 10th November until the 24th November, and you need to report your earnings to Centrelink on the 24th November, but your employment pay period ended on the 21st November, you now no longer need to include what you might potentially earn on the 22nd, 23rd, and the 24th. You just report the gross amount on your payslip that you received sometime between the 10th Nov and the 24th Nov. I think it's so people don't have to play a guessing game of what they might earn before they have actually earned it.

Right ok! I was so confused because the pay periods for my pps and my actual job are slightly different and then I still don't get a payslip for a week or so.. Very confused 😂
