Heroic Husband Cuts Firewood

Heroic Husband Cuts Firewood

I am lucky enough to live on a few of acres of land and on this few acres I am lucky enough to have a good supply of firewood. Now enter my heroic husband. My heroic husband cuts the firewood into blocks small enough to fit into the firebox but not so small as to burn too fast. Bless his heart.

Now, above mentioned task is a fair task and this I understand, but for the love of Pete does he go on about it! Without a word of a lie he thinks he is blazing a new frontier; like the world would surely come to a crashing halt if the firewood is not cut. Anything I have done in the past or will do in the foreseeable future completely pales when compared to cutting firewood.

Seriously, I can say, “I gave birth to our two boys” and he will retort ‘But I cut firewood – In fact I have cut enough firewood to cover us for the next two weeks”¦’ and strides off in a cloud of masculinity with his shoulders back and a strut in his walk.

Now I don’t want to sound as if I don’t appreciate his efforts, I love how the fire makes my house cozy and warm. But if I open this very publication to the classified section I can find a full half dozen lovely people that will cut the firewood for me AND deliver it to my house for somewhere around the $100 mark.

Funnily enough as hard as I look I can’t find a single person willing to give birth for me AND deliver to my house for $100. (I think one may have to venture a little further afield than the local classified to find one of those). So I let him go proud in the knowledge he is providing heat for his family like a neolithic man and just smile and flutter my eyelids.

P.S Don’t tell him I told you, we are nearly out of firewood!
